For our client, we are seeking a "Cloud (Service) Cost Engineer" (m/f/d)
Project Description:
Our client is developing an internal platform aimed at accelerating the development and delivery of software products to address significant challenges in the energy sector. This service-oriented, cloud-native platform offers self-service capabilities for application teams to develop, run, and operate their software products. It provides services for application infrastructure, data, service lifecycle management, application build and delivery, and services to operate software products. The platform is deployed as a hybrid cloud, including both private and select public clouds.
Framework Parameters:
- Start: 15.05.2025
- Duration: Until the end of 2025
- Workload: Full-Time
- Location: 75% Remote, with 25% presence in Berlin required, increasing to 50% during peak times
Tasks:
- Analyze the cost structure of current services to identify relevant cost drivers, including hardware, software, and operational costs.
- Develop service cost models for each service, including the creation of calculation spreadsheets for scenario evaluations.
- Specify requirements for cost tagging of services and consult on implementation and testing phases.
- Optimize public cloud service costs by developing monitoring systems and processes, and providing regular cost reports.
Experience & Knowledge:
- At least 8
- years of proven experience in cloud services development and pricing.
- Minimum 4
- years of experience with public/private cloud platforms as a software architect or similar.
- Strong understanding of public cloud services' cost and price structures.
- Familiarity with cloud management tools such as Azure Cost Management, GCP Cloud Billing Reports, and BI tools like Tableau.
- Hands-on experience with the GCP environment, including resource navigation and configuration tasks.
- Fluent English (C1) and German (B2) in speech and writing.
