Project description: For a demanding infrastructure project an experienced lead software architect is sought, who takes responsibility for the computer architecture. The aim is to develop and implement scalable, safe and automated solutions in the field of virtualization and containerization. The role plays a central role in the strategic development of the computer services and works closely with engineering, product management and other architects: inside.
Framework parameters
Start: 01.09.2025
Duration: until 31.12.2025 with option for extension
Utilization: full-time
Place of use: 75% remote, 25% on site in Berlin (in turn: 1 week Berlin / 3 weeks remote), if necessary up to 50% on site in peak times
Tasks
- Responsibility for the architecture of the computer components
- Development and implementation of concepts for virtual and container-based computer platforms
- Control of OS Image Lifecycle Management and Container Management Environments
- Translation of technical requirements into scalable and durable architectures
- Consulting and support of the engineering team
- Design of automated delivery processes and API design
- ensuring security, governance
- and compliance requirements
- Promotion of architectural standards and best practices
Experience & knowledge
- At least 7-10 years of professional experience in the field of IT infrastructure, software architecture or platform engineering
- Based experience with distributed software systems and highly available system architecture
- Very good knowledge in Linux, containers (e.g. Kubernets), OS management
- A deep understanding of virtualization technologies (e.g. VMware, KVM)
- experience with REST APIs and data modelling
- knowledge of authentication / authorisation and observability
- Safe English (at least C1)
Desired: certifications in architecture, cloud infrastructure or security, experience with service mesh and infrastructure management tools
