Virtualization Engineer (f/m/d)

Duration: 30.09.2025 (long-term engagement until 2026)
Capacity: 100% (full-time)
Location: 75% Remote, 25% Berlin (1-week Berlin, 3-weeks remote rotation), up to 50% onsite in peak times
Role:
The virtualization engineer is part of the compute and storage engineering group within the infrastructure sub-product line, covering datacenter, network, compute, and storage. The engineer builds the compute and storage environment as designed by the lead architect and core infra architect. The goal is to establish a fully automated environment where all steps after physical installation will be automated.
Profile Requirements:
At least 5 recent years of experience as a virtualization engineer, with knowledge of the entire life cycle of on-premise installation, operation, backup, recovery, and de-commissioning.

Virtualization technologies
KVM on Ubuntu Linux
KVM lifecycle (install, maintain, decommission)
KVM installation and maintenance with virtlib
KVM automation
Kubernetes/Rancher
Automation
Infrastructure automation tools (Ansible, Terraform)
Scripting languages (Python, Bash) for automation and testing
VMware vSphere knowledge, experience with ESXi and vCenter
Virtualization integration of KVM/vSphere/Kubernetes/Rancher
Skills (should-have):
