Senior UX/UI Designer - Gothenburg

Job description:

We are looking for a senior UX/UI designer with a strong focus on UI to collaborate on an exciting project of developing our next generation of condition monitoring solutions.
The end goal of our solutions is to provide actionable insights based on machine data to make industrial machines run longer, and this positions us at the center of turning SKF’s strategy of intelligent and clean growth into reality. The project involves developing a web application that offers an exceptional user experience and allows our users to detect machinery issues confidently and quickly.
**Your responsibilities and day-to-day tasks:**
We are recruiting an additional member to our UX/UI design team, and your day-to-day tasks include;
- Cooperating closely with our UX/UI Lead, product owners and chief product owner to suggest different solutions to defined needs.
- Initiate, participate and contribute to design reviews frequently.
- Driving standardization and inform/educate development teams on design rules.
- Testing/verifying the UI design that our developers have implemented.
- Working with stakeholders to understand needs.
- Participating in scrum ceremonies.
- Brainstorm, share insights, and collectively create something impactful.
**Who we are, what we believe in, and what you need to value to enjoy working here**
We believe in small teams with a high level of autonomy on how to do their work, meaning that we put a lot of trust in teamwork and our teams. We also understand that it takes two to tango and you as an individual must have a strong drive to get things done in such an environment. We expect you to take action when getting stuck, and we have built a working culture with a strong focus of supporting each other when you ask for help. By working in small teams and with complex products, we put a lot of emphasis on collaboration to achieve the results we want.
Working with industrial applications creates a rather steep learning curve due to the complexity of our domain, the products we build and the environment we operate in. We will offer the support necessary to create the right learning environment, but you need to be curious enough and show a strong willingness of wanting to learn within this area.
Our department’s responsibility is to build the next generation’s eco-system for condition monitoring. Building complex products is not straightforward. It creates a challenging, fun and rewarding working environment, and you must be comfortable coping with some level of uncertainty. Being a part of something new will provide you with the possibility of having an impact on our new solutions already from the start!
**Requirements:**
- Senior Figma user, i.e. you need deep knowledge and understanding of working with Figma and design systems, especially working with component-based web design (auto-layout, variables, design libraries, responsive design, prototyping, interactivity).
- Proficient in applying web and Document Object Model (DOM) principles to enhance UI design—ensuring responsive layouts, consistent spacing, and intuitive element behavior across platforms.
- Comfortable with an iterative working process, meaning that you share your designs at an early stage to allow feedback.
- Strong communication skills, i.e. having the ability to describe & explain the rationale behind your design decisions.
- Solid understanding of design systems as a concept and experience in the underlying factors of scalability and compliance within design.
- Strong personal drive to get things done in an environment characterized by autonomous teams and high trust in the individual.
- Preference towards collaboration and teamwork. Ask for help when needed and help others when being asked to support.
- Curious and a strong willingness to learn our domain, the products we build and the environment we operate in.
- Experience with agile development methodologies is required.
- Fluent in English, fluency in Swedish is meritorious.
- Experience of working with industrial applications is meritorious but not required.
